The Love Fast: Day 10

whats your type

Ever been walking through the mall and see someone of the opposite sex and you say, ohhhh he/she is defiantly my type. Or you say, he/she is cute, but they are just not my type! I’m sure everyone has done it, because everyone pretty much has a type… So take a minute and make a list of your type of man/woman.

For example, looks wise, Carolina Panthers player Mario Addison is my type. I love a man that is 6’2 or taller, dark skinned, facial hair, muscular build, beautiful teeth. When I am getting to know someone, I look for someone that makes me laugh, that can text in complete sentences, interested in trying new things, a self-starter, genuine, kind, but most of all, a non-smoking CHRISTIAN!!  Check out Mario Addison!!! Cutie Pie!!!

Mario Addison

Anyway, I have pretty much liked this type of man for as long as I can remember. But wait, my crushy crush is not 6’2, he is not dark skinned, he is kinda muscular, no facial hair, but he does have beautiful teeth. However, he is an absolute God send! He is one of the most genuine people that I have ever met. He is great with my son, he makes me laugh, he PRAISES THE LORD, he LOVES THE LORD, he is very ambitious, he is a go-getter, he is such a great guy, and I genuinely enjoy being around him. I say all of this to say, everything that looks good to you may not be good for you!

Jeremiah 29:11 reads: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” If God has plans for us in whom our future will prosper, why do we put limits on God? Why do we restrict him on what we will ultimately accept, when he has someone absolutely perfect for us?? This person may not be what we want based on his/her looks, but God will not give us anything less than what we need.

I have been very humbled because, “my type” of man was not all that I thought he would crack up to be. Every man that I dated that was “my type”, hollered he was a Christian, but he was so in the world that his light would not shine! My type was not as respectful as I deserved. But when I took a step back and looked outside of “my type”, I have met some pretty amazing men!

I say all of this to say, let’s not limit what God has for you based on your preference. Psalms 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” I have always thought that this scripture meant that God will give me what I want point, blank, period…. But what I have learned is that the desires of my heart ultimately are to be happy, to be loved, to be complimented, to be encouraged, to be treated with respect, to be in a relationship with a guy that will love me for me. The desires of my heart are to have someone by my side that will support me through thick and thin, someone that will cherish the moments, and be my best friend. A man that will be absolutely perfect for me in every way, shape and form.

I guess today, look into what really matters. Are you looking for a God-fearing mate that will cherish everything you have to offer? Or do you want a special feature that will fade as time rolls by and you grow old?  Remember that God has someone that is absolutely perfect for you. This person may or may not be exactly what you look for ascetically, but he or she will be just what you need! God knows what is best for you! He knows who and what will compliment your characteristics! He is preparing you for your mate, just as he is preparing your mate for you!

Proverbs 18:22 says, when a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing and has favor in the Lord. Ladies, God will send you to the place where you potential husband is. Your husband will find you and you will be amazed at how awesome this man is!! And men, when you see her, make your move!! Women like a man that is going to approach her and treat her like the lady she is! Good luck on this journey, I pray that you will be perfectly ready for your mate when you meet him or her!!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for waking me up this morning and giving me the chance to embrace this day. Thank you for being perfect, and loving me throughout my imperfections! Thank you Lord for being able to see the physical characteristics that I like in a partner, but thank you even more for letting me see what I characteristics I like beyond looks. Lord I pray right now that you will lead me and guide  to my mate, according to your will an your ways. I thank you for your love and kindness, and for allowing me to be the person you have designed me to be! Lord I ask you to give me the desires of my heart as I prepare to be the husband/wife that you have called me to be. I am ready for whoever you have for me and I am ready to embrace the love that we will share! Thank you Lord! I say this prayer in your son Jesus name I pray. Amen and Praise God!

The Love Fast: Day 9

Lies…. Lies…. Lies, I tell ya!!! I am probably one of the most caring and understanding people that one will ever meet! You can tell me something and I will believe every word you’ve said because I don’t have any reason to doubt your words. Well, that is until I’m lied to and deceived.

When I look back over my marriage, I realize a lot of my marriage was based on lies. Whether it was my ex-husband lying about smoking weed, or lying about where he was, or the lies about the females calling him phone…. There were MANY LIES!!! And though I didn’t understand, I prayed and prayed and prayed for a change of character for my ex-husband. I prayed and asked to how I as his wife should deal with the lies and deception, how should I remain faithful to an unfaithful man. It was bad, but God prevailed!  If you’ve read my post domestic violence saved my life, you will see a little more of my story, BUT GOD! I was deceived by the person that was supposed to be by my side till death do us part….. BUT GOD!!!

deception

Deception violates trust, and trust is an essential component to any relationship.  Dr. David of Crosswalk.com says: “Trust is the foundation that holds a relationship up. I tell you what is important to me and what I expect from you. If you agree to honor and respect what is important to me, I will trust you with my feelings and thoughts. If you dishonor me by violating an agreement, by deceiving me, we’re going to have serious problems. If you make amends for your betrayal, I might, if I determine you to be trustworthy, slowly begin to trust you again. If you don’t seem to understand the importance of honoring an agreement, and the importance of protecting my trust in you, we cannot have a relationship.”  Point, blank, period!!

Galatians 6:7-8 reads: Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”  Pretty much this scripture tells us that you bring in what you put out!!! When we are in a committed relationship, and we deceive our partner by way of lies, infidelity, or whatever the case may be, we can expect chaos within that relationship. Living a deceptive lifestyle is bound to ruin any good thing that has come about in your relationship, however if you can be upfront, honest, and faithful with your mate, you will enjoy the benefits of happiness!

No relationship is perfect, however, we need to know that when we are dealing with other people, that we need to be our genuine selves. We have to be treat our mate with the upmost respect because he or she may be the one that God has for us!! Dr. Lisa Firestone writes on psyhcalive.org, “An ideal relationship is built on trust, openness, mutual respect and personal freedom. But real freedom comes with making a choice, not just about who we are with but how we will treat that person. Choosing to be honest with a partner every day is what keeps love real. And truly choosing that partner every day by one’s own free will is what makes love last. So while freedom to choose is a vital aspect of any healthy and honest union, deception is the third party that should never be welcome in a relationship. “

In our next relationships, avoid any type of deception that will lead us away from our mate but especially Christ!!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you! Thank you for your spirit! Thank you for your loving kindness! Thank you for just being God alone! Father as I come to you right now, I ask you for a discerning spirit. I ask that when you send/lead me to my future mate, that I will be able to be the Christian partner that you have called me to be! I pray that you will remove any form of deception from me now, so that I can serve you whole heartedly! Father I love you and I thank you in advance for all the wonderful thing you are doing for me! I know that you will allow me to be the best person that I can be in you. Thank you God for Jesus! Thank you for healing, protection, and everything else that I am experiencing because I am your child! Father I love you and I praise you. In Jesus name! Amen and Praise God!!

The Love Fast: Day 8

Prayer Printable smaller

As for me, I’m like most females! I have dreamed of the perfect fairy tale for my life! I just knew that by age 25 I would have been graduated from college, working my dream job, married to the MOST AMAZING man this side of Heaven has to offer, and running around after a chocolate-drop (kid) or two. I had so many plans for my life; however, I am quickly realizing that my wants are not God’s will! So I have just begun to pray! Not only am I praying for myself, but I am praying for my future husband!

Now when my women’s group said that they prayed for “Mr. Future”, I thought they were CRAZY!!! I just knew that these ladies were a little special, but then I began to pray. I prayed for my future, my son’s future, and my prayer journeyed to Mr. Future. I felt pretty liberated to pray for a man that wasn’t in my life yet. I prayed for his health, his wellness, his future, his mindset, his career, his parenting, his relationship with Christ, his family, just so many things! I just began to cover him in prayer!!! Weird, I know!!! But hey, why not??

Praying for my future husband has really opened my mindset about prayer. Phillipians 4:6 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”. As much as I want to be married, I had to really rely on this scripture! And the more I prayed, I began to feel satisfaction in just lifting him up in prayer.

Job 42:10 says: “And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”  So, let us break this down, The Lord restored the fortunes of _____________ (ß your name here), when you pray for your friends (your future spouse should be your BEST FRIEND, your ride or die, your prayer partner, your ACE). And the Lord gave _____________ (ß your name here) twice as much as he had before (your spouse, your babies, the love you pray for). Below you will find several prayers to constantly pray for your future spouse, I am stealing these from another blog, but they covered my list and more!!

  1. Pray for his/her walk with God, that he/she continues to grow spiritually and is prepped to be the spiritual partner, and that he/she makes God the top priority in his/her life.
  2. Pray for his/her ability to hear God’s voice, for his/her ear to be in tune to hear all of God’s instructions.
  3. Pray for his/her will to be bendable toward whatever God wants for his/her life.
  4. Pray for his/her emotional health—that any past wounds be dealt with and healed. Pray for restoration in all areas.
  5. Pray for his/her physical health.
  6. Pray that he/she break free of any unhealthy addictions, if needed.
  7. Pray for his/her career, his/her life’s work, that he/she be established in the field where God wants to use him/her and that he/she be wise with his resources.
  8. Pray for his/her ministry—that he/she be sensitive to God’s call on his/her life when it comes to ministering to and serving others. Also, pray for God to prepare both of you for the ways you will minister together.
  9. Pray for his/her preparation—that he/she yields to all that God’s potter’s hands would like to accomplish in him/her.
  10. Pray for God to send any trials necessary into his/her life that will allow the preparation process to be complete.
  11. Pray for God to prepare him/her to be a father/mother, if the two of you will ultimately raise a family together.
  12. Pray for God to help him/her be responsible with his/her finances and prepare him/her to be a significant contributor and provider to the household.
  13. Pray for him/her to not be distracted by any counterfeits—especially other women/men that God doesn’t intend to use for his/her growth.
  14. Pray for God to allow this man/woman to see you the way God wants you to be seen, with God’s heart toward you.
  15. Pray for God to show you how to pray for your husband/wife. Be open to whatever His Spirit may whisper to you, to cover your husband’s/wife’s needs. If you feel God gives you something specific, write it down and date it. Save it for later.

In the beginning, covering your future spouse in prayer is HARD!!! But know that God has someone ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for you! Keep your relationship with Christ at the top of your prayer list, as you are seeking love! But know that he has it all in control! He has your life planned out to a T and he will provide everything you need! Jesus loves you, and he is preparing you for your future mate, just as he is preparing your mate for you!!!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to you today first just to say THANK YOU!!! You’ve been oh so good to me, and you meet my needs day after day, and I just thank you!!! Father I am asking you for discernment as I seek my future spouse! I ask you to cover my mate and myself as you are preparing us for each other! Lord I ask you for protection, for favor, for your love and your covering! Lord I ask that you will just be with me as I am on my love journey! Father I love you and I praise you for all the great things you are doing in my life and will do in my future! I say this prayer in your son Jesus name I pray!

Amen and Praise God!!!

The Love Fast: Day 5

forgive

In April 2012, I got divorced from my abusive husband. I was heartbroken being that I never imagined that I would EVER get a divorce. To me, divorce was not an option and I could not imagine being a single mother to a toddler child! I feel that I tried and tried to make my marriage work, but God had other plans for my life!

As I adjusted to the single life, I began to crave the companionship. I craved someone to be there when just wanted talk, someone to just give me a hug when I was lonely. I wanted to be in love so bad! I wanted a MAN!!! I remember praying and praying and asking God why me? Why did he “allow” me to marry a man of such poor character. Why did he allow me to stay in such a bad place? Why didn’t he get me out!

I remember asking him to send me this Christian man that stood 6’2 or taller, dark skinned, athletic build, with facial hair!! I just knew that God was going to send me this man because I prayed for him on a regular basis. I just knew that my dream man was going to sweep me off my feet any day and that I was going to live happily ever after! But God QUICKLY humbled me when I heard a sermon on forgiveness. He put it heavy on my heart that if I wanted to move forward in my love life, that I needed to learn TRUE FORGIVENESS!!

Matthew 6: 14-15 reads, If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you. But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.” This scripture was a hard pill for me to swallow, being that I couldn’t forgive a man that physically, emotionally, and verbally abused me. I began to pray for my ex-husband, and pray for a forgiving heart. The thought of forgiveness began to come easier for me. I had to study forgiveness, and when I learned about the way Christ forgives, I began to genuinely forgive as well.

Micah 7:18-19 reads “Our God, no one is like you. We are all that is left of your chosen people, and you freely forgive our sin and guilt. You don’t stay angry forever; you’re glad to have pity and pleased to be merciful. You will trample on our sins and throw them in the sea.” — Everyday we sin, and we fall short or the glory. Every day we allow situations to make us angry, some of which we hold grudges FOREVER! However, we claim daily that we want to live Christlike, but we don’t want to forgive those that have wronged us. The prefaced scripture tells us that not only does God forgive us, he doesn’t hold our sin against us, he shows us pity and continues to grant us new mercies each day.

As a Christian, we should learn to walk in forgiveness. We should be a people that expresses the LOVE of Christ daily by being slow to anger and quick to love. As we are fasting, and looking at the love of Christ as it relates to our personal lives and relating it to future relationships, being able to forgive is necessary. TheLoveDaily.Com offers this GREAT thought when connecting forgiveness and love: “Step #1 to manifesting a soul mate is all about forgiveness: Forgiving yourself for all the ways you make yourself wrong for past relationships and forgiving your “ex’s” for all the ways you judge them as having done you wrong.”

Let the act of forgiveness marinate in your spirit today, as you may enter into a new day with new mercies. Forgiveness is not for the person that has mistreated you, instead it is for you, so that you are able to move forward in every aspect of your life. Wheter you need to forgive a person, yourself, or even God, know that step one resides in you! Know that Christ died on the cross for our sins and he forgave those that crucified him!

forgiveness

Prayer: Father God in Heaven! I know that you are a God that sits high and looks low, you are a God that forgives me even though I am so undeserving. You are a God that loves me despite the fact that I sin and fall short of the glory. Father I pray that you give me forgiving heart. I pray that as I move forward in my life, that you will allow me to seek your face even when others hurt me! I pray that you show me how to love instead of being so quick to anger when I am mistreated! Father, I know that every situation that I have been through thus far is a portion of my testimony and I forgive all of the people and situations that caused me pain. Father God, I love you dearly and I pray that you will continue to grow in me. I pray that your word will manifest in my heart so that I can be a better man/woman in you. Lord I love you and I thank you in advance for all the mighty things you have prepared for me! I say this prayer in your son Jesus name I pray. Amen and Praise God!

The Love Fast: Day 4

My good friend Trent Williams has written a song entitled For Your Grace, and ultimately this is one of MY FAVORITE worship songs EVER!!! The lyrics simply say, “Where, would I be if GRACE, had not saved me? Where, would I be if not, for your MERCY? When I am lacking, your grace is enough, when I deserved Hell you  gave me your love, and I just want to thank you for your AMAZING GRACE!!” — Now, i’m sure we have all heard that God’s grace is sufficient and His mercy endures forever! But if it wasn’t for the LOVE to God, grace and mercy would be foreign to us.

Listen to the song (YouTube video below), and when you LOVE it, go on Amazon, iTunes, or anywhere else digital music is sold and purchase it for $0.99!! How about the plug… LOL!!!

Grace, unmerited favor. A gift of kindness/blessings from God that we don’t deserve!!

Mercy, not getting what you deserve. A withheld punishment.

Though grace and mercy are very similar, they are completely different yet they compliment each other in every aspect of God’s Love. Romans 3:22-26 reads, God treats everyone alike. He accepts people only because they have faith in Jesus Christ. All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins. God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life’s blood, so that by faith in him we could come to God. And God did this to show that in the past he was right to be patient and forgive sinners. This also shows that God is right when he accepts people who have faith in Jesus. — This scripture expounds on God’s Grace and Mercy, as we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory, but God treats us better than we deserve. That is mercy, when we sin, we deserve a punishment, yet many times, we don’t get the punished because God loves and protects us with his mercy!! The scripture goes on to say “God freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins”, and that is grace, God FREELY ACCEPTS is a gift that we don’t deserve.

GotQuestions.Org gave an AWESOME example of God’s Grace and Mercy: “Mercy and grace are best illustrated in the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. We deserve judgment, but if we receive Jesus Christ as Savior, we receive mercy from God and we are delivered from judgment. Instead of judgment, we receive by grace salvation, forgiveness of sins, abundant life, and an eternity in Heaven, the most wonderful place imaginable. Because of the mercy and grace of God, our response should be to fall on our knees in worship and thanksgiving. Hebrews 4:16 declares, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

As we think of God’s Grace and Mercy today, think about the ultimate act of love that Christ delivered as he was hung on the cross! Think about how much love GOD has for us to encompass us with his grace daily love and new mercies everyday! Think about the love of Christ that doesn’t strike us dead even though we sin and all short of the glory! As humans, we have so many shortcomings and inadequacies, yet we are ALWAYS protected by the love of Christ. As we think about Christ today, and meditate on his grace and mercy, lets remember that God’s Grace and Mercy was shown point blank period, at the cross!!!

For God so LOVED the world that he gave his only son, that whosoever believes in him shall not parish but have everlasting life!

Prayer: Father God I come to you, just thanking you for your grace and mercy. Thanking you for your love and kindness, your compassion, your strength, your thoughts, your fulfillment. Thank you for dying for my sins, as I have sinned and fallen short of the glory. Lord I thank you for being so good to me and meeting my each and every need. Thank you for your word and for all of the promises that you have listed and will deliver! Lord I pray right not for restoration in you. I pray that you will fill me and consume me like nothing else can do. Lord I pray for peace of mind, deliverance from my storms and a way out of no way! Lord I am asking you to continue to bless me and to keep me from all harm, sudden death or accident! Lord continue to cover me as I want to do your will in everything I do! Bless me Father! Keep me Father! Love me Father, like only you know how! I say this prayer in your son Jesus name I pray… Amen and Praise God!!!

The Love Fast: Day 1

Not too long ago, a very good friend of mine told me about “The Love Fast”. I was VERY interested in the fast, but he had no scriptural references, he was just fasting from ‘love’ and ‘lust of the eye’…. So I prayed…… And here we go!!!

Image

Matthew 6:16-18 (Contemporary English Version) reads like this about fasting: When you go without eating, don’t try to look gloomy as those show-offs do when they go without eating. I can assure you that they already have their reward.  Instead, comb your hair and wash your face. Then others won’t know you are going without eating. But your Father sees what is done in private, and he will reward you.

With that being said, this fast is between you and God. You don’t have to share your intentions to fast with anyone, just put your trust in him and he will provide. He will lead you and direct you…… But most of all, he will reward you!!!

As I’m doing this fast, I’m praying about a specific person. I’m asking God for clarification of my feelings and emotions!! Take this time to get intimate with Christ, but you can ALSO pray for a specific person of interest in which you are wanting clarification of your situation. Or pray that God will lead you to the person that he has for you, and that you and he/she is ready to embrace all the God has for you two. Or, you can even just pray for your future spouse; cover them now, for a situation they are in may be prolonging you from meeting or moving forward!

Day 1 is easy. It’s just a run down of the fast, and what is expected…… So here we go!!!

The Purpose: ‘The Love Fast’ is to promote the love of Christ in your life. It is designed that you may find understanding in God’s word and the direction he has for you and your love life. You may also find your purpose in Christ as it relates to the true direction in which He is leading you with your future mate.

This fast is a time for you to intimately talk to Christ and find out what he desires for you as you add new loving relationships to your life! The fast will honestly be different for different people, being that we are all in different stages of our lives in regards to relationships. So pray and focus on what fits YOU most!!!

The Fast: Within this fast, you should not have contact with any of your exes nor anyone you are attracted to, have feelings for, are interested in, or anything else of the sort. You should not participate in sexual activity of any kind, including masturbation, and you should remove any distractions that take your focus off of Christ and yourself. I suggest getting rid of social media during the fast, so that you are not tempted to lust after and communicate with beautiful people. And yes, a double tap on Instagram is communication.

How Long: 14 days….. Not too bad!! Hey, it’s 2 weeks, you got this, you can do it!!

The Word: Each day will have a scriptural reference. Read it, in different versions of the Bible if you must, but ensure you have a clear understanding of what you are reading! The word of God should draw you nearer to Christ during your fast and you should begin to see your relationship with him become more intimate.

Random Acts of LOVE:  Some days will have a RANDOM act of love for you to engage in. I suggest you read your devotional in the morning so you can prepare for your random act of LOVE throughout the day.

I guess that’s it….. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me. Ellebsaidwhat@gmail.com.

I hope the Holy Spirit is able to move in you over the next few days and you are able to find true love in HIM!

Prayer: Father God, I come to you, thanking you for life, love, relationships, and you just being you… Thank you for being a forgiving God and a merciful God and someone who loves me in spite of all my sin and wrong doings. Lord I pray today that you will open my mind and heart to love like you love. Show me a sense of self love in which I’ve never experienced and a future in you that goes above and beyond all I could ask or think. I love you God and I praise you in advance for all you are doing and will do in my life. I say this prayer in your son Jesus name I pray.

Amen and praise God!!
